Case study: Hovis

With Kentico v 9.1, Monochrome implemented a highly visual, creative UI design with strict branding guidelines and a fully responsive fluid grid to work across desktop, mobile, and tablet devices utilising the Kentico Master/Child templates, Web Forms, and modern front-end JavaScript frameworks.The team consisted of 2 UX/UI designers, 2 front-end developers and 3 Kentico .NET back-end developers and delivered the site within a tight 2 month deadline in line with a TV advertising campaign.

The new website has been a great success both from increased traffic and Kentico CMS editing features allowing for Hovis Marketing teams & Editors to regularly contribute to the site. Along with Improved consumer experience on all devices (UX). The site was put forward for 2015 Kentico site of the year finalist under the food and beverage category

Case Study: Nutmeg

We were approached by Nutmeg to assist in the development of their investment manager tool. They had a number of very specific requirements and were considering how best to approach building the software required for the service, and whether development should be outsourced, kept in-house or involve a mixed team.

Rails was the perfect solution for this web application. Monochrome deployed the POC, demonstrated the effectiveness of the technology stack and our strengths as an application solution provider. We were awarded the contract to deliver the main application.

After extensive user acceptance testing, the site went live and Monochrome provided a supportive role. As Nutmeg had always maintained its need to have its own internal ruby on rails resources once the application had been built, we adopted an advisory role. We continue to work with Nutmeg and are very proud of our relationship.

The project was a great example of brand driven design, complex functionality and a range of data visualisation techniques, including the dynamic landscape which is effectively a graph that adapts according to the user's supply and demand choices.

The usability testing sessions provided excellent insight into what the general public understood about the subject and the complexity of some of the issues the UK faces, as well as critique the UX and aspects of the calculator’s design that needed to be reconsidered. The final result was a design that proved, through further usability testing, that the calculator was easy to use, intuitive and provided the education on the subject the client hoped for.

The intended audience, including economists, engineers and government accepted that the calculator accurately represented DECC data and forecasting models. The calculator is now widely used and shared by interest groups through various digital and social channels.

Dixons Carphone

Monochrome were delighted to work with Dixons Carphone to develop a market leading "Lift and Learn" retail installation; the first of its kind in the UK. The prototype unit was launched in the flagship Currys PC World Southampton store to promote a range of digital cameras and was an instant hit!

Case study: Mr Kipling

Kentico has allowed us the creative freedom to implement fully responsive UI designs across a number of brand websites within the Premier Food’s Group. There are very strict brand guidelines requiring pixel perfect layouts and animations to be adhered too. With Kentico there were no real design compromises we needed to make leaving a very happy customer and equally happy design team!

When briefing the team the timelines were tight from the outset, but I have been very happy with their work. The look and feel of the site is great and very much on-brand and I have also been very pleased with their commitment to delivering this project on time.

With this project we were able to identify and address all the areas where the old site was failing.

Aura now have a modern, fresh, professional website that complements their direction and ethos as a company. This build is a great example of how Monochrome can take a dated, poor performing website and transform it from an afterthought into an effective sales tool. The addition of the available jobs roles and accompanying application form is helping Aura to keep down limit the use of expensive recruitment consultants.

The final site was delivered within a very tight deadline and bang-on budget. Aura are extremely happy with the results and have experienced an immediate benefit as a result of the new site going live.We have established a strong working relationship that is already leading to follow-up work and we look forward to delivering Aura’s digital requirements for years to come.

The customer received a highly configurable website and advanced CMS implementation, allowing site editors to build the pages as envisioned using the full set of widgets designed for the website.

During peak traffic periods, both CloudFlare and Kentico CMS caches responded effectively to manage the high levels of traffic and keep the website available online.
